I can understand, with the multi-cultural life experiences you've had, that it WOULD be daunting to write your life story! GOOD JOB!

Comment on YOUR WRITING IN PRINT

That was extremely clever and obviously heartfelt. The rest is a blur, and I was surprised
when the instructor gave me a high five after I
was through.

My self-image says that physically, I just can't
do some things. Every time I actually do them I
surprise myself.

Maybe you have some old self-limiting beliefs
like I do.

I grew up thinking I was a klutz. When I was
eight I couldn't seem to learn ballet, and I
never did manage to climb the tree in the
backyard. I had no idea that I could be taught
physical skills.

I learned to throw a Frisbee for the first time
when I was 32 and was a volunteer/victim during a
demonstration of learning through the "Inner
Game Method." Up until then, I thought physical
skill was something you had to be born with, and
that I had just missed out.

I've always known that my brain could learn
strange things - like telepathy and psychic healing
and having someone sit on me when I'm stretched
between two chairs. I know my brain can change
my reality. Now I'm learning that I can change
my muscle reality too.

I eventually learned yoga, but I never could
learn the headstand. It's only now that my
Pilates teacher is helping me discover that I
have muscles in my upper back. I am actually
feeling them and learning to use them.

Last year, when I went bowling for the first time
in 20 years and took the time to think about what
I'd been taught 49 years ago (in a college PE
class), I did better than I thought it would.

The whole family was there, my daughter Rachel,
her husband and four little boys under age 8, her
mother-in-law who is 20 years older than I am,
and Jon and me. I thought it would be a repeat
of most of my early experiences, where the ball
would go wherever it wanted to, usually in the
gutter, but so what. At least I would probably
score higher than the five-year old.

But something's changed. I've been working out
and becoming conscious of my body for a long
time. After rolling the first four gutter balls,
I felt my body click into knowing what to do. I
was shocked when the pins kept falling down. I
actually had the highest score in the family.
Wow!

Now I've shocked myself by just following
instructions and learning to float in a 120 mile
an hour wind tunnel.

You really have to see the videos to believe
this. The first one is just Jon (yellow), me
(pink), and a boy we don't know experiencing the
wind for the first time. http://tinyurl.com/62qzft.
The second http://tinyurl.com/5tparx is the last
30 seconds of my third minute, after I actually
got the hang of it. It was an amazing
experience.

Laurie Weiss, Ph.D., Master Certified Coach

Empowerment Systems
